Indonesia is a priority country for Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) economic cooperation and development. In Indonesia, SECO – among other things – fosters sustainable value chains with a special focus on export commodities, including palm oil. In this context, SECO is funding a program that applies a Sustainable Landscape Approach (SLA), which is called the Sustainable Landscape Program Indonesia (SLPI). Applying a landscape approach allows interconnected and multifaceted development challenges, such as poverty and sustainable management of natural resources and forests, to be addressed systematically.

 As part of this program, SECO is providing support for the Mosaik Initiative in Kalimantan, led by Kaleka. The project is designed to apply a jurisdictional approach to sustainable commodity production within districts, and coordinated among adjacent districts, to protect and restore ecosystems at the landscape level for enhanced environmental and social outcomes. It aims to accelerate the process of jurisdictional certification in Kotawaringin Barat and Seruyan districts and initiate the process in Sukamara and Ketapang districts. In Kotawaringin Barat and Seruyan, where much progress has been achieved, the project will enable the districts to progress to the next stage of RSPO Jurisdictional Approach for certification requirements.

The project will further refine the jurisdictional certification approach that has been applied in the palm oil sector to cover other commodities. There is the potential to expand the approach to other commodities within the districts, especially timber (natural and planted), coconut and rubber. The whole approach, in turn, could be replicated to adjacent districts (Sukamara, Central Kalimantan and Ketapang, West Kalimantan). Complementing these farm-oriented approaches, forests and other ecosystems, which are outside of concessions but within jurisdictional (district) boundaries, will be protected and restored through complementary jurisdictional and community-based approaches.

Indonesia adalah negara prioritas dalam kerja sama serta pembangunan ekonomi oleh Sekretariat Negara Swiss untuk Urusan Ekonomi (SECO). Di Indonesia, SECO – antara lain – mendorong rantai nilai berkelanjutan dengan fokus khusus pada komoditas ekspor, termasuk minyak sawit. Dalam konteks ini, SECO mendanai program yang menerapkan *Sustainable Landscape Approach* (SLA), yang disebut *Sustainable Landscape Program Indonesia* (SLPI). Menerapkan pendekatan lanskap memungkinkan tantangan pembangunan yang saling terkait dan beragam, seperti kemiskinan dan pengelolaan sumber daya alam dan hutan yang berkelanjutan, untuk ditangani secara sistematis.

Sebagai bagian dari program ini, SECO memberikan dukungan untuk Mosaik Initiative di Kalimantan yang dipimpin oleh Kaleka. Proyek ini dirancang untuk menerapkan pendekatan yurisdiksi terhadap produksi komoditas berkelanjutan di dalam kabupaten, dan dikoordinasikan di antara kabupaten yang berdekatan, untuk melindungi dan memulihkan ekosistem di tingkat lanskap dalam meningkatkan hasil lingkungan dan sosial. Hal ini bertujuan untuk mempercepat proses sertifikasi yurisdiksi di Kabupaten Kotawaringin Barat dan Seruyan serta menginisiasi proses di Kabupaten Sukamara dan Ketapang. Di Kotawaringin Barat dan Seruyan, di mana banyak kemajuan telah dicapai, proyek ini akan memungkinkan kabupaten tersebut untuk maju ke tahap selanjutnya dari Pendekatan Yurisdiksi RSPO untuk persyaratan sertifikasi.

Proyek ini akan lebih menyempurnakan pendekatan sertifikasi yurisdiksi yang telah diterapkan di sektor kelapa sawit untuk mencakup komoditas lainnya. Terdapat potensi untuk memperluas pendekatan ke komoditas lain di dalam kabupaten, khususnya kayu (alam dan tanaman), kelapa dan karet. Seluruh pendekatan, pada gilirannya, dapat direplikasi ke kabupaten yang berdekatan (Sukamara, Kalimantan Tengah dan Ketapang, Kalimantan Barat). Melengkapi pendekatan berorientasi pertanian ini, hutan dan ekosistem lainnya, yang berada di luar konsesi tetapi dalam batas yurisdiksi (kabupaten), akan dilindungi dan dipulihkan melalui pendekatan yurisdiksi pelengkap dan berbasis masyarakat.
